Tuckerton Environmental Commission hosts Clothing Drive Fundraiser April 26th
Spring is always a great time to start switching to your summer clothes and to declutter your wardrobe and linens during Spring cleaning. In honor of Earth Day (April 22nd) the Tuckerton Environmental Commission is hosting a Clothing Drive Fundraiser on Sunday, April 26 from 11am-3pm at Tuckerton Borough Hall, 420 East Main Street. Bring clean/dry clothing, linens, footwear and accessories in plastic bags, especially unwearable/unusable to keep out of the landfill. The Commission is partnering with HELPSY who’s mission is to keep textiles out of landfills by reusing, recycling and rewearing. According to HELPSY over 85% of clothes end up in the trash. This costs towns extra money in dumping fees and is bad for the environment. HELPSY will provide funds back to the Commission that will be used for our tree planting project on Main Street in the Historic District. See HELPSY.com for a list of what’s accepted.
